Yes, Talas also sells it.  It has good strength and flexibility properties.  Additionally, it is thinner than traditional tape thus minimizing bulk below the pastedown; the ends of the tape can be frayed (we prefer this) like sewing thread thus adding additional strength and support when pasted/glued down.

I see that Talas sells Ramieband and describes it as very strong.  That answers two of my questions: strength and source.

That leaves the question of its Archival status.  Anybody?
