Call for Entries
Electoral Collage: Art & Politics in 2008

(Portland, OR)- Writer George Orwell encouraged artists and writers to
create "works that pushed the world in a certain direction, to influence
people's ideas about the type of society to strive after."

In this politically charged election year, the jurors for Electoral Collage:
Art & Politics in 2008 seek work from artists that provokes ideas and
discussions about the kind of society the United States should be, and the
kind of world people want to live in the future.

The 2008 election year has inspired people to not only discuss, but to also
create artwork about the issues that affect their lives: war and peace, the
economy, environment, education, civil rights, justice for all and justice
for the select few. Whether you are far right, far left or somewhere in
between, Oregon College of Art and Craft in Portland, OR invites you to
submit work that demonstrates your insight regarding these and other issues.
Cash awards will be given for best of show, second place, and third place.

Exhibition jurors include Horatio Hung-Yan Law, an artist and assistant
professor at Pacific Northwest College of Art in Oregon; Heidi Schwegler, an
artist and associate professor at Oregon College of Art and Craft; and
Steven T. Taylor, a writer, editor and associate professor at Oregon College
of Art and Craft.

The call for entries submission form will be available online at
www.ocac.edu beginning March 1, 2008. Submissions must be postmarked by May
2, 2008. Please mail materials to Oregon College of Art and Craft, Attn:
Arthur DeBow, 8245 SW Barnes Road, Portland, OR 97225. For more information,
contact the exhibitions director at adebow@xxxxxxxxx
