Hi Susan, I have been thinking about you especially since I wish I could be in NYC on 4/11 but now I realize that you may have also been picking up my vibe....
Anyway, it seems you really wanted the other Claire for this response. I plan on being in Dallas as this year is # 25 for official fingerpainting.
The 1st picture is from a week or 2 ago at one of Kaz's friends Bar Mitzvah, Kaz' became a teenager on the vernal equinox... I am still stunned and he is 1/4 of and inch shorter than me on my 2nd anniversary of my golden year! the color photo is from my 50th....
Cheers to you and all from the GBW in your path!
Claire

Hi Claire,
I'm planning to come to the talk on April 11th.
Do I owe you the materials fee for Anna's workshop? how much?

Please join the NY Chapter of the Guild of Bookworkers
and Columbia University on Wednesday, April 11 at 6pm,
for a lecture by typographic designer Peter Bain. The
talk will be devoted to blackletter, the type style
commonly known as gothic, which was first cast for the
Gutenberg Bible. Blackletter has gone through many
variations since then, and we will see a wide range of
typefaces and lettering that illustrate the many ways
Blackletter has been used and changed over the
centuries.
Peter Bain is principal of Incipit, a NY studio
devoted to wordmarks, digital typefaces, handlettering
and typographic design, with awards from AIGA and
Type Directors Club and has curated and written on
letterforms and lectured in the US and London. Bain
teaches at Parsons/The New School and Pratt Institute.
The lecture will be held in Butler Library, room 523
at Columbia University at 6pm. Columbia University is
located at 2960 Broadway at 116th Street. Butler
Library is located on the south side of the Quad.
The lecture is free, but please RSVP to Clare Manias
at cmanias@xxxxxxxxx or call (212) 851-5603.
Refreshments will be served.
This event is co-sponsored by the
NY Chapter of the Guild of Book Workers and Columbia
University Libraries.
