Thin, adhesive backed, metal rulers that read "left-to-right", or 
"right-to-left" are available from McMaster Carr Supply at 
mcmaster.com.

If I follow you comments correctly, the 1/32" variation in the 
measurement versus the actual cutting edge may be caused by excessive 
grinding of the thickness of the bed blade.
It has been my experience that grinding the side (or sides) of the 
blade could create a problem as the metal gets thinner --- there is not 
enough metal for the blade to remain straight. Therefore, we have been 
recommending only sharpening the top of the blade, and if the side 
needs to be ground, it should be the absolute very minimum.
If the blade is too thin and the attached rules do not align correctly, 
the blade can be shimmed-out with an appropriate material, i.e. plastic 
shim stock is available in various thicknesses (also from McMaster 
Carr.
However, it sounds like you will keep the rules set just as they are 
for box cutting.
