Re: [GBW] special listserv administrative announcement
Dear Eric,
Would it be ssible to have a simpler access handle? If I want to go to our
site, I Google "Guild of Book Workers" or even simply "GBW" and it is very
much simpler. GBW100 gets me that site. I have to look up the palimpsest
thing each and every time, and have just finessed it as a result.

Subject: special listserv administrative announcement
Dear GBW listserv subscribers,
In the next couple of weeks the GBW listserv will undergo a major change:
The list will be moving to a new host.
Since the GBW listserv was created in October 1999 it has been hosted by
Syracuse University. The list will now be hosted by Michigan State
University. Current subscribers (which includes anyone receiving this
message in their inbox) will be automatically moved to the "new" list. You
will most likely receive a "welcome" message indicating the change has taken
place, as well as some more warnings from me.
Perhaps the biggest change will be that the familiar "Listserv" program
which takes care of distributing all the messages and taking care of any
subscriber needs (such as joining or leaving the list or putting yourself on
hold during vacations) will no longer be used. MSU uses the "Mailman"
system. Messages will still arrive in your inbox in the same way, but the
commands used to manage your account (joining, leaving, vacations) will be
slightly different. The new rules will be available on the GBW website
soon.
The switch will take place the week after Labor Day, or sometime between
September 5 and 8. Another alert will be sent out next week and then a
warning message just before the transfer. Then you may receive some
automated messages from the Syracuse listserv and/or the MSU Mailman
indicating that this has happened.
If you have any questions or concerns (although this is nothing to be
concerned about), do not hesitate to contact me.
Thanks,
Eric
P.S. Anyone really itching to read up about the Mailman system can read the
