Re: [GBW] paring machines



If you've been paring that long, you are probably very fast!  It takes a
little getting used to, but you can do almost everything with the
Scharf-Fix, and faster.

It depends. For leather hinges, MM bindings, onlays, labels, they're great.
For larger pieces (full & 1/4 bindings) I'll edgepare with the Scharf-fix
and then finish with a spokeshave or Swiss paring knife (both beautifully
reworked by Jeff Peachey). In terms of spending the money though,
absolutely no regrets. If you teach workshops/classes, get two.
