Subject: International bookbinding exhibit
An international exhibition entitled The book of Origins, organized by
Les Amis de la Reliure d’Art du Canada, will be held from September
10th to October 2nd 2005 at the Gabrielle-Roy Library in Quebec City
and will show the works of a hundred binders from around the world.
A Huron creation myth collected in the 1940s by famous ethnologist
Marius Barbeau serves as the basis for the Livre des Origines, a
literary interpretation of the myth by writer André Ricard. The final
work, a luxury edition in a ready-to-bind format illustrated with
original lithographs by artist Carmelle Martineau, is now available for
sale.
