Re: [GBW] bonded leather
Bonded leathers are made to act like a heavy cloth. They are rolled into
sheets, and are very consistent in thickness. Having said that, they are
thin enough so that they do not need to be pared, though the corners are a
bit lumpy compared to the effect you can get by paring real leather.
Because some of the composition of the bonded leather is man-made adhesive,
it works best with PVA. Don't expect bonded leather to act like leather--it
will not stretch neatly over raised bands, nor hold shape for debossing,
etc. It acts like a cloth, and allows edition binders (and others) to say
they are using genuine leather versus imitation patterned cloths.

Subject: bonded leather
I understand that bonded leather is a manufactured material made from 75%
"real" leather. Does such a product require PVA or paste, and is it meant
to be pared? Could anyone share his experience with this material?
Thank you.
