[GBW] box filler

To all:
I am making a clamshell box for a book that is very warped and fragile. I
am looking for advice as to what to use as a filler to support the book and
keep it from moving around in the box. I have had wool felt suggested but
it seems to me the fibers would get caught on the metal clasps. Is there an
archival plastic that will mold to the shape of it? Perhaps I should make
pillows of silk on each side of the clamshell. Any suggestions? Thank you.
