Re: [GBW] GBW Digest - 2 Mar 2004 to 3 Mar 2004 (#2004-36)
Betsy:
Thanks for your reply. I obviously don't see as much of the entire
picture as you; there are certainly things that GBW provides that I
don't take advantage of but are important to other Guild members.
I'm wondering how many of the activities you list are self-supporting.
I've been told that Standards is; what about some of the others? Where
all or a significant number of the membership benefit from an activity
then certainly that should be included in the membership dues, but
perhaps other activities should be self supporting.
I'm happy to hear that the local chapters have the option of increasing
their dues to raise additional money for local activities. Given that
the dues for all of the chapters is the same it appeared to me as if
this amount was set by the national organization. While I certainly
wouldn't advocate raising any of the dues sky-high, a few extra dollars
may benefit the quality of the local programs.
To everyone else on the list:
I would still be interested in hearing your opinions on what you value
most about GBW membership, both national and local, and the relative
value of each. This would probably be beneficial to the program as a
whole.
