Pharmaceutical Grade Gelatin

Lehmann Bindery is now offering for sale pharmaceutical grade gelatin
at $10 per pound. Pharmaceutical grade gelatin is an ultra pure form of
hide glue (bloom rating 236). It is archival and can be used as either
a glue or paper size. It comes in granular form and is light amber in
color.

As a glue, mix the grains with water and let stand over night. It can
then be heated in your glue pot. Once melted, it can be further thinned
with water.

For paper size, mix 1/2 to 1 1/2 grams per 100 ml. Heat gently and then
apply.
