Unbound sheets of ANVIL PRESS/Victor Hammer TYNDALE FOUR GOSPELS available
for  purchase

Carolyn Whitesel, a book artist in Cincinnati, Ohio who trained for several
years with Carolyn Reading Hammer at the King Library Press in the 1970's,
is seeking a buyer for a set of Tyndale's four gospels--Matthew, Mark, Luke,
and John--in unbound sheets--published by the Anvil Press. In case you are
unfamiliar with these, they were printed as four separate books.The colophon
page reads "Laid out by Victor Hammer/press work by Jacob Hammer. 300
copies, printed in 1955, for the Anvil Press, Lexington, Ky." At the front
of each volume are elegant line illustrations depicting the traditional
symbol for each apostle-lion, eagle,etc. The text is printed on a rag paper
in black ink with red crosses as markers/accents. The sheets are folded and
collated into four potential volumes, but are so far "uncut". There is the
beginning of some very slight discoloration at some edges, and a few light
brown spots scattered through(possibly light foxing) but! overall they are
in good shape for their age, and have been kept wrapped and safely stored
for the past 25 years. After consulting with several people knowledgeable in
the field, and based on the rarity of the materials,she has set the price
for the sheets at $2000 (negotiable). Carolyn would be happy to send
