new england swap meet update

There was one small change to the directions to our swap meet in May, so
I thought I'd repost the updated announcement. This time for sure...

2nd Annual Guild of Book Workers Spring Swap Meet

Saturday, May 12, 2001
1 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Bemis Hall
Lincoln, MA


Clean up your bench,
clear out your space,
make your world better...

Buy, sell, or trade your usable but unwanted items including tools,
paper,
type, etc.

Everyone is welcome to bring book-related tools, equipment, supplies,
paper,
cloth, leather, type, books, or anything else you may want to sell or
trade.
Tables will be set up to display merchandise.  This will be a chance to
mingle, haggle, and maybe pick up some bargains.

You don't have to sell things to join in the fun.

At 3pm David Lanning of Hewitt's Tannery will discuss the longevity of
leathers made for
bookbinding. He will examine the reasons why older leathers seem to last
longer than modern leathers; he will also describe the changes being
made to modern leather manufacturing techniques in hopes of restoring
durability to modern book leathers.

The annual meeting of the New England Chapter of the Guild of Book
Workers will be held immediately after David Lanning's presentation.

Directions to Bemis Hall
Bedford Road, Lincoln, MA

The swap meet will be held in Bemis Hall, Lincoln, MA. Lincoln is 13
miles northwest of Boston.

>From the east, including Boston and Cambridge:
Take Route 2 West. You'll eventually cross over Route 128. At the first
set of traffic lights, take the SECOND right, which loops
you across the intersection and past Tracey's Gulf gas station. (The
sign reads "Bedford Rd. South/Lincoln Center/Next Right.")
Then follow the directions below.

>From the west:
Take Route 2 East. Take a RIGHT at the traffic light at Tracey's Gulf
gas
station onto Bedford Rd., then follow the directions below.

>From the north or south:
Take Route 128, get off at Exit 29/Route 2 West/Acton, Fitchburg. At the
first set of traffic lights, take the SECOND right, which
loops you across the intersection and past Tracey's Gulf gas station.
(The sign reads "Bedford Rd. South/Lincoln Center/Next
Right.") Then follow the directions below.

Follow Bedford Road for 1 mile. Bemis Hall is the old brick building on
the left. Park across the street at the stone church.

If you come to a stop sign at a 5-way intersection, you've gone too far.
